Goodbye hi-bandwidth.

Well, the Smart contractors came over to change my Canopy antenna. Since they had to decommission a base station, and my legacy Canopy antenna wasn't compatible with the new one. So they had to move me to another 'color code'. In the previous post. I was getting pretty good bandwidth on this base station.

Oh well, good things must come to an end eventually.

Back to 384 Kbps. =)

... another try... =(

and another...

SmartBro forgets to implement bandwidth cap.

Was browsing around, and I noticed that my browsing experience was quite fast. I just use my home connection for emails and stuff... no excessive downloads. Pointed my browser to Speedtest.net and the bandwidth test result surprised me.

:::.. Download Stats ..:::
Download Connection is:: 2140 Kbps about 2.1 Mbps (tested with 4096 kB)
Download Speed is:: 261 kB/s
Tested From:: http://testmy.net/ (Main)
Test Time:: 2008/08/08 - 10:01am
Bottom Line:: 37X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 3.92 sec
Tested from a 4096 kB file and took 15.678 seconds to complete
Download Diagnosis:: Awesome! 20% + : 450.13 % faster than the average for host (smartbro.net)
D-Validation Link:: http://testmy.net/stats/id-PK9S2HT8Q
User Agent:: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.11) Gecko/20071127 Firefox/2.0.0.11 [!]

The cap is around 384 kb/s. But it seems someone forgot to put the cap after their un-scheduled downtime.

It's download time!

MANILA, Philippines - As it neared the homestretch of preparations for the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao elections, the Commission on Elections will print the ballots "live" through the Internet.

The Comelec said it would stream footage of the printing process through a video web server at Internet address http://124.104.101.211.

"We want the public to see how everything is done by the Comelec with utmost transparency and fairness, keeping in mind that the scheduled ARMM polls will play a major role towards the achievement of a fully modernized elections in the country come 2010," Comelec spokesman James Jimenez said on the Comelec blog site Tuesday evening.

He said those interested should log on to http://124.104.101.211, type in "admin" in the username box and "admin" in the password box.

The official ballots that would be seen printed live would be used in the ARMM provinces of Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Lanao del Sur and Shariff Kabunsuan.

In those areas, Comelec would use the optical mark reader (OMR) technology where voters would be required to fill out a paper ballot scanned by specially designed machines.

For her part, Comelec Printing Committee head Dir. Esmeralda Ladra said that "transparency is one way of enhancing the credibility of the Commission especially in the conduct of elections."

"We want the people all over the world to see our best efforts, in coordination with the National Printing Office, to preserve the integrity of the ballots, even at its printing stage. This is one of our strategies under Operation MERIT (Modernization and Electoral Reforms with Integrity and Transparency) under the able leadership of Chairman Jose Melo," said Ladra. - GMANews.TV
